Once upon a 23rd Birthday ya girl needed her nals did lol! Being that I live in Atlanta I just knew there was bling it out, swaroski crystal, super artistic nail tech out there, and low and behold thanks to handy dandy instagram hashtags I found my forever ATL nail tech. Her name is Dayna and she is a super sweet, artistic and talented young woman from Detroit, MI. Did I mention she is clutch as hell! So the story goes that I needed my nails done for my birthday, but being the busy bee that I am and workig 3 jobs the only time I had available was like 11 o'clock at night but my girl came thru for me and threw down on my nails! All and all she is a bomb.com entrepreneur working hard and striving for excellence, and who wouldn't want to support that. Below you find pictures of her AMAZING work and an interview with Ms. Dayna Denise herself. You can book appointments with this AWESOME Nail tech/artist at www.daynadenise.com and follow her on instagram @ddnailz_ for pictures of her latest work!

Interview

Q: How did you start doing nails?

A: I started when I was 15. Ad the story is I hated going to normal shop. and I went to the shop one day, I was like one of these lil fast girls that got their nails done every 2 weeks. And I was getting my nails done and she called herself doing some designs, and I didn't like them so I asked her to take them off. She did, but then proceed to try again, and I didn't like them again, so I asked her to take them off again. So end of it I don't want any designs, and she still wanted me to pay $25 for designs I didn't get. So we had a little back and forth I ended up paying to avoid a huge altercation, and after that I got my own polish and began figuring out to do my own nails.

Q: I see you are a recent graduate of Clark Atlanta University! Congrats and shoutout to the HBCU Alumni! With such artistic and creative ability, I'm wondering was your major art?

A: No actually it was business with a concentration in accounting. I didn't want to go to college for a talent I was given, but what I did need to do was learn how to manage my talent and for me that all boiled back down to business.

Q: How was working with LHHATL?

A: I actually did not work with all of LHHATL, I worked with Bambi and Ms. Harper and I loved them both. I love Kalena just a little bit more, just because she is HILARIOUS and deserves more time on the show.

Q: If you had one word to describe yourself and your business what would it be?

A: One word hmmm....FUN because it's fun for you and for me. When you are passionate about something you aren't really working so it all revolves around fun for me.

Q: I follow alot of nail artist/nail techs on instagram, and a recent hot topic is the new show on Oxygen called "Nail'd It". What are you thoughts of the show on nail artists versus Nail technicians? What do categorize yourself as.

A: I think you need to have a little of both to be great. You can know every chemical in everything you put on someones nail, and have the best techincal skills, but you should have some type of artistic background and be able to keep up with current trends in the industry to continue to be successful. My thoughts of the show is I LOVE IT and I would LOVE to be on the show if possible. The only thing I don't like is that I don't believe they compete against their equals and I can usually tell who is going to win and who is going to lose.

Q: What are your next steps for DD Nails?

A: Well....I am about to get my instructors license, so that I can teach other individuals and ultimitley open my own salon, while at the same time trying to get on Nail'd It!
