DANGGGGG it's October already son! Sheesh! Time flies! My blog posts are usually pretty straight to the point, but with it being October the month we honor as Breast Cancer Awareness Month I'd like to leave a little "Think Pink" positive thought to linger on in your head throughout the month. As a proud African-American "Black" (however you'd like to call it) woman I have definitely fallen into the stereotype of black woman not wanting to or being afraid of going to the doctor. Black women are not as predisposed to Breast Cancer as other ethnicities, but it is imperative that we test ourselves as well as go to the doctor for annual women’s health checkups. Early detection has the best rate of survival and treatment options. I don’t want to give a fashion/ beauty blog any feelings of sadness by speaking on breast cancer, but I know so many people who have been affected by it within the African American community and my main message is STAY HEALTHY BLACK QUEENS and that goes to ALL MY QUEENS as well! I’ve been seeing some literature on how much the CEO of Susan G. Koeman makes, but that is not the only breast cancer research foundation. For a disease that mainly affects women I believe as a sex we need to stand together in finding a cure for a disease that has torn so many families apart. I encourage you to donate to a foundation of your choosing and/ or participate in a walk. I know St. Louis has the “Sister Strut”, which raises awareness about these types of issues within the black community. Overall what I’m saying is support the cause!
Back to the fun stuff though, this OOTD was of course was inspired by the ribbon color that represents breast cancer. It was also inspired by survivors of breast cancer in the fact of how strong they are even when they may be feeling their most vulnerable. I choose to push any insecurity I may have about my body to the side to SLAY this fit. I have actually become even more confident over the past couple months about my body and how I exude my confidence. Even though they are just pictures…I hope it can spark some inspiration in you! As always current items and similar items will be linked below!
Stay TRILL
